Industrialized Buildings

Act 364 of the Louisiana 2007 Regular Session, requires Industrialized Buildings that are constructed after January 1, 2007, that are intended for sale or use in Louisiana, meet or exceed the requirements of the Louisiana State Uniform Construction Code, R.S. 40:1730.21 through 1730.39, as well as the life safety, accessibility, rules and laws enforced by the Office of the State Fire Marshal, R.S. 40:1574 through 1593.

As such, the Office of the State Fire Marshal is required to provide for registration and regulation of those manufacturers and dealers of industrialized buildings that conduct business in this state. The purpose is to ensure that an approved method of code inspection is provided at the place of manufacture, prior to installation.

Plans and specifications for each industrialized building, module, and/or modular component are required to be submitted to the Office of the State Fire Marshal for review for compliance with all codes, rules and laws that are enforced by the Office of the State Fire Marshal. Plan review for compliance with the Louisiana State Uniform Construction Code (LSUCC) will also be performed by this office, unless requested to be performed by a third party provider that is properly registered with the Louisiana State Uniform Construction Code Council for the particular scope of work.

The services of registered third party inspectors will be required to perform the proper inspections during construction of the industrialized building, module, and/or modular component.

If an industrialized building was constructed prior to January 1, 2007, it will not be reviewed by the Louisiana State Fire Marshal's office for compliance with the Act 364 of 2007.

If the parish or municipality has not established requirements or if this documentation is not received in the review application package, the State Fire Marshal shall review the submission for compliance with the wind and flood provisions as adopted by the Louisiana State Uniform Construction Code Council.
